Overview:

The ctenostome bryozoan Aeverrillia armata is native to the East and Gulf Coasts of North America. Its range extends from Maine to North Carolina and along the Gulf coasts of Florida and Texas. Introduced populations have been found in California and New Zealand. This species is primarily found in marine environments, but has been collected at salinities as low as 12 PSU. It grows attached to algae, hydroids, other bryozoans, shell fragments and pilings. There are no reported impacts from its introduced range.
