Overview:

Palaemon carinicauda, the Ridgetail Prawn, is a widespread species of estuarine and coastal marine waters from China to Singapore. It is well-regarded as seafood and is raised in aquaculture in China. Two specimens of P. carinicauda have been caught in San Francisco Bay, but there are no further records for this Asian shrimp in US waters. Possible vectors are ballast water or the release of live shrimp purchased as seafood.
