Overview:

Potimirim potimirim is a freshwater shrimp native to Brazil and Atlantic drainages in Central America. Although primarily freshwater, P. potimirim can tolerate salinities up to 23 PSU. It briefly established breeding populations in Florida canals, but these have not persisted. Likely vectors include accidental release through the tropical fish or aquatic plant industry. Potimirim potimirim has no reported ecological or economic impacts.
