1st Record: CA/Humboldt Bay (2007, Mello, personal communication; Carlton, personal communication, establishment unknown)

'The photographed specimen is indeed the Japanese oyster drill, known for decades as Ocenebra japonica, and now known as Ocinebrellus inornatus,. There are no previous records from Humboldt Bay: Scott Larned did a thorough survey of the larger snails on the oyster beds of the Bay in the late 1980s, and did not find it. It would be of no small interest to determine if there is an established population in Humboldt Bay.-- James T. Carlton, personal communication, 2007)
