Botrylloides violaceus was seen overgrowing mussel lines on Prince Edward Island (Gittenberger 2009). High-pressure water spraying reduced fouling of mussels. However, fouling by Botryllus schlosseri and Botrylloides violaceus had little effect on mussel growth and production (Arens et al. 2011).
