1st Record; Lyme/CT/Connecticut River (Smith 2000, collection date not given), 1st Record: Arlington/VA/Boundary Channel adjacent to Potomac River near the Pentagon (2007, Orstan); USGS Nonindigenous Aquatic Species Program 2010); Fairfax County/VA/Gunston Cove (Kraus 2007). Dyke Marsh, Alexandria/Potomac River (2000-2009, Fofonoff, personal observations); Previous records of Bellamya sp. have been identifed as B. chinensis. Both species appear to be present in the Potomac River based on shells that I've collected. Re-examination of museum material and fresh specimens will be needed to determine the.distribution and history of the two species. (Fofonoff, personal observations)
