Invasion Description
1st Record: Swansea/Wales/Irish Sea (1959, in a heated dock, Ryland 1960). Bugula neritina apparently disappeared from British waters in the 1960s possibly because of severe winters or cool summers, but reappeared or was rediscovered, by 2004 in Arenas et al.'s (2006) surveys. By 2011, it was widespread on Britain's south coast and present at at least seven locations further north on the Irish Sea, to Wales, Scotland and Ireland (Ryland et al. 2011).
