1st Record: Beaufort/NC/Beaufort Harbor, attached plants in intertidal mud (Schneider and Searls 1991). Drifting plants have been occasionally collected for many years on the North Carolina coast (Aziz and Humm 1962, cited by Schneider and Searles 1991)
