1st Record: Mount Desert Reagion/ME/Gulf of Maine (Osburn 1932, as S. unicornis: 'Rare, one colony, without special data, encrusting a pebble')

'On the Atlantic Coast, it occurs abundnatly for Cape Cod to Florida, and it has been reported from Greenland water anumber of times, and from other places in the Arctic, so it is idffiuclt to explain why it seems to run out north of Cape Cod, and why it has not been recorded from aestern Canada (Osburn 1932).
