1st Record: New Zealand/Tasman Bay (12/2007, Biosecurity New Zealand 2008; Hopkins et al. 2011 http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/pests/perna-perna ). (An oil rig was defouled (had fouling organisms removed from its below-water surfaces) in Tasman Bay in December 2007; Perna was eradicated from the sea floor below the rig by dredging- Hopkins et al. 2011)
