Invasion Description

1st Record: Pilots' Dock at Pier F, Long Beach/CA/Long Beach Harbor (2000, Cohen et al. 2002, as B. flabellata); Coronado Cays Marina, San Diego/CA/San Diego Bay (2002, Ruiz et al., unpublished; B. flabellata); Crosby St. Pier, San Diego/CA/San Diego Bay (2000, Ruiz et al., unpublished data), B. flabellata); San Diego/CA/San Diego Bay (2000, Ruiz et al., unpublished data).

Ruiz et al.'s material, taken from some of the same San Diego Bay locations sampled by Cohen et al. (2002), within 1-2 months, has been identified as B. fulva (Linda McCann, personal communication 2011). Robertson (1905) reported 'Bugula flabellata')in small quantities on piles'. This may have been B. fulva, but further examination of historical samples is needed,
